The Aqua-Stairs® 5 step ladder is the most popular of the aluminum dock ladders for sale. This is also a retractable dock ladder that ships with the flip-out brackets to remove it from the water when necessary. Given that most floating docks, stationary docks, swim platforms, and piers are 36” or less from the mounting surface to the water’s surface (to accommodate boarding boats), it makes the 5 step angled dock ladder the best fit since most boat docks are actually 24” or less to the water’s surface. The extra length of these 5 foot aluminum dock ladders provide plenty of steps underwater to step out easily. This is especially helpful for customers who may have knee, hip, or back problems. In jest, some customers refer to these dock ladders as senior ladders, old folk’s ladders, and even boat ladders for elderly. But no matter who buys our aluminum dock ladders, they all also state that it is the best dock accessory they have purchased. These large dock ladders are also commonly bought as a dog dock ladder because they are so easy to get in and out of the water. The bottom line is that these dock stairs enable most people, some handicapped people, and dogs to easily enter and exit the water. More steps underwater makes it easier to get out. Dock Ladders Features: 5 step dock ladders ship WITH the flip out brackets that allows you to rotate the ladder out of the water when not in use, or to keep it algae / barnacle free between use. It is intended for use where the mounting surface is no more than 36 inches above the water; otherwise, it is likely that this swim ladder would be too short to comfortably get out of the water, unless the lake bed is close enough to stand on. If nearing the 36” limit, you may want to consider the 6 step dock ladder. This boating ladder’s steps are unconventionally large at 16″ wide and 8″ deep, making it very comfortable to step on. The last step on our 5 step dock ladder is approximately 5 feet below the mounting surface. When mounted correctly, this sloped ladder does not have to rest upon the lake bed for proper support; however, you can let it rest upon the bottom if desired.
